This project was focused on either the seven sins or the seven virtues. We were each given a choice on which seven we want to focus on. I chose to go with the virtues and base my theme around peaches. Initially, I struggled with finding a theme for this topic. I don't consider myself a religious person so trying to hone in on this subject was something new and challenging for me. I have always considered myself to be "peachy". Giving the virtues meaning to me through peaches inspired my creativity for this newspaper spread.

This project was printed on a tabloid-size newspaper on 55gsm paper from the Newspaper Club

Design requirements for this project:

Chastity- Analog collage
Temperance- Typographic letterform solution
Charity- Personal full-color photo(s) with model
Diligence- Personal photo(s) duotone
Patience- Personal photographed object(s)
Kindness- Found photograph (full color or B/W) and hand-lettered text
Humility- Constructed image, full spread

Here are more process and inspiration photos.
This is a mockup of my front cover. The image was found on Pexels. This was one of the first photos I found that inspired me and set up the theme of my project. The peaches looked very delicate and almost angelic, setting up the tone for my virtues newspaper spread.
Chastity to me represents an angelic-like presence. This collage was made analog by putting together various wings from different animals. I wanted to show more of a "biblically accurate" angel representation with the peach pit relating to an eye.
Patience initially made me think about a peach pit sprouting and slowly growing but I knew I did not have the time to capture that process. I felt as if the phases of the moon represented patience in the sense that as the phases are slowly changing we stop to appreciate each step. I wanted to replicate this idea with peach slices.
Humility means having a modest or low sense of self-importance. To showcase this I wove a basket and filled it with simple peaches and flowers. Only showing my model's hands, basket, and peaches included in the final image.
This is my entire newspaper spread on flipsnack.
